I'm using the kde-gnome-universal-2004.2.iso to emerge Gentoo on my PowerBook G3 (Bronze) and having difficulty with Step 5.b of the Gentoo Linux/PPC Handbook:

When downloading the stage2-g3-2004.1.tar.bz2 (since the 2004.2 stages don't appear to be ready yet) with lynx I get the error (after completing the download)...
Code:
Alert!: Cannot write to file

When I press 'h' (for 'help') lynx complains...
Code:
Alert!: Unable to access document

...and the dies with the message...
Code:
lynx: Can't access startfile <url>

I've tried multiple mirrors and get the same result.
I've verified that I have adequate disk space.
What am I doing wrong?

links/links2 display the contents of the .tar-ball (instead of downloading the .tar-ball to disk). :?

Within links/links2, when you're on top of the link, instead of following it, press "d". That will bring up a box for you to save the file.
AFIK, you have to download the file to whatever directory you were in when you ran links, so make sure you cd to where you want to be before running links. :-)

I think that you're right (but it's too late to know for sure). Thanks!
