I am unable to obtain the 2004.2 ppc liveCD.

The files
Code:
install-ppc-minimal-2004.2.iso
and
Code:
nstall-ppc-universal-2004.2.iso
are mentioned in the installation part of the Gentoo Handbok ([url]http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/handbook-ppc.xml?part=1&chap=2)[/url]), and are listed in http://tracker.netdomination.org/.

Yet I am unable to find these files on any of the Gentoo mirrors (I checked maybe 10 or so...), and I cannot find them at http://torrents.gentoo.org/torrents/ either.

Since the PPC platform is (conspicously) not mentioned among the releases in the news at http://www.gentoo.org/ ("Today marks the release of Gentoo Linux 2004.2 for the AMD64, HPPA, SPARC and X86 architectures! "), I thought that release may have been delayed for PPC.

But then again it is mentioned in the places stated above, and in this forum. At http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/releng/release/2004.2/2004.2.xml no delay is mentioned, but neither is any release.

I would greatly appreciate any information on how to obtain the PPC liveCD for the 2004.2 release. If it not yet released, I am a bit curious why it is listed as downloded att BitTorrent...

Get them at:

http://www.metadistribution.org/gentoo/2004.2/install-universal-2004.2.iso
and http://www.metadistribution.org/gentoo/2004.2/kde-gnome-universal-2004.2.iso for the KDE/Gnome Live-CD.

Have fun,

Thank you. That worked just fine.

Any idea why it is not on the regular mirrors?

I guess some of the mirrors are selective about what they mirror and correctly perceive x86 as the most popular platform. I went through the frustration of trying mirror after mirror this evening too...

How about a stick thread which lists the mirrors carrying full PPC live CDs and stages?

thanks,

Andy

What is the purpose of the KDE/Gnome LiveCD? I tried using the x86 one on my workstation, but it did not boot, are these cds comparable to KNOPPIX in that they provide functional desktop systems for rescue or other purposes? or are they simply graphical installer CDs??
