"Warning : Can't Open Initial Console" and
"Rebooting System"

are the only error messages I get with 2.6.7
everything else seems to load fine
I've been working onthis for months.

Mine boots fine, but there's no initial console either. It does some initial stuff, then waits till the actual consoles come up, then I can use it (mostly) normally. (Sleep's not working, and it did with 2.6.4 etc.)

i had the same problem with 2.6.5 when i installed gentoo. it turned out that i compiled the kernel wrong, but don't ask me what i did exactly (or did not do). anyway, when you boot from the livecd there is a /proc/config.gz (or so) which i used for the kernel configuration. i simply added the filesystems, added some more stuff i needed and it all worked most excellent.

maybe that helps?

Did using that config (tweaked) let sleep functions work with the 2.6.7?

Thanks

sleep works fine with my TiBook. but you need to install the pmud for power management. (was it pmud? i think so...) sleeping is triggered by a demon, not the kernel.
