|I got an old Umax c600 Mac clone and I thought I could try to install Gentoo on it.
I tried to install from a 2004.x live-cd but found out that it will only run on min G3 CPU. So I found an old Gentoo 1.4 ppc Live CD and was trying to install from it. I booted the kernel with BootX but there begins my problem, /linuxrc starts and there are flashing a lot of errors on the screen:
|cloop: Read error at pos XXX in file /mnt/live/mnt/cdrom/live.gcloop, XXX bytes lost
cloop: error -203 uncompressing block XXX XXX/XXX/XXX/XXX XXX-XXX
end_request: I/O error, dev f0:00 (cloop), sector XXX
Was looking for Gentoo 1.2 live cd but found none on any of the mirror server.
Is it Possible to install gentoo on that machine?
UMAX c600 (Supermac/Apus 3000)
48 MB RAM
2GB IDE HD (MAC OS 8.1)
4GB SCSI HD (for Gentoo)
MacPicasso520 graphic card with 4MB RAM (I think)
FWB CD-ROM Toolkit/FWB HD Toolkit (to use the HD/CDROM with MacOS 8.1)
Would be happy to get Gentoo working on that machine
