I have a problem booting the 2004.2 PPC LiveCD (as well as previous ones) on my brand new Dual-G5 1.8GHz.
I'm not especially a Linux newbie, but the kernel debugging is far from being my best ability. Here is the problem I encounter :
When booting the LiveCD (pressing "c" at boot) I have a blue screen (sounds familiar ). It tells me to choose my kernel flavour. Having a Dual-G5, I select G5-SMP and then press Return. The kernel starts booting, giving a few debug lines, then freeze. As I've already written, I'm not into kernel debugging but I wrote down the messages :
Welcome to Linux, kernel 2.6.7-gentoo-r11-G5-SMP
linked at : 0xc0000000
frame buffer at : 0xa0008000 (phys), 0x90000000 (log)
klimit : 0xc0769940
MSR : 0x00003030
HID0 : 0x00000000
MMU: hw init
found cpu 1
core99_setup_cpu 0 done
Hope you understand it and can help me. I've seen people saying that gentoo works on their G5, so they may have tips on installing it.
More info :
I have tried the other kernel flavours (nobody knows...). I've also tried to change video mode, but it seems that parameters are not passed to the kernel, as it's same mode as default.
Thanks for your help.
