Hi all,
I have a problem emerging vim 6.3 on my powerbook g4.

emerge vim prints this:
Code:

...

gcc -c -I. -Iproto -DHAVE_CONFIG_H     -O3 -pipe -mcpu=powerpc -fno-strict-aliasing   -D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64  -I/usr/lib/perl5/5.8.2/powerpc-linux/CORE  -I/usr/include/python2.3 -pthread    -o objects/charset.o charset.c
In file included from buffer.c:29:
vim.h:40: error: syntax error before ':' token
In file included from /usr/include/_G_config.h:44,
                 from /usr/include/libio.h:32,
                 from /usr/include/stdio.h:72,
                 from os_unix.h:21,
                 from vim.h:195,
                 from buffer.c:29:

<and so on>

make[1]: *** [objects/buffer.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/vim-6.3/work/vim63/src'
make: *** [first] Error 2

!!! ERROR: app-editors/vim-6.3 failed.
!!! Function src_compile, Line 262, Exitcode 2
!!! emake failed

I tried to remoove all from IUSE and USE vars but it's no use. :(
Also the same vim compiled great by doing ./configure make make install
And the same vim emerged great on my PC.
Kernel: gentoo-dev-sources 2.6.7-r11

Thanks a lot for listening me.

PS sorry for my bad english :wink:

my /etc/make.conf
Code:
# These settings were set by the catalyst build script that automatically built this stage
# Please consult /etc/make.conf.example for a more detailed example
CFLAGS="-O3 -march=i686 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"

MAKEOPTS="-j2"

GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://mirror.switch.ch/mirror/gentoo/ ftp://mirror.switch.ch/mirror/gentoo/ ftp://ftp.solnet.ch/mirror/Gentoo ftp://dsse.con.can.ibm.com/gentoo"

USE="avi -kde -qt -oss alsa audiofile cdr divx4linux imagemagik lcms mozilla nocd perl plotutils samba sse tiff wxwindows Xaw3d xvid pcmcia"

See the var:
Code:
MAKEOPTS="-jn"

where n=m+1

m: # CPUs

If you have problems put n=1, that can solve sometimes problems.

Other problems might occur with to On Option. The greater n the more dangerous. Try maybe to remove the -O Option for the compile that causes the problem.

I had the same problem...

- I edited the first error (vim.h) and found there that the configure did not run correctly.
- Checked the configure log and found that the int size was detedted to be 0!
- Then checked the config.log and found there a libtermcap.so.2 problem which i also had before. I had libtermcap-compat installed.
- Then in this thread I found the cure https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=209489&highlight=libtermcap

Code:
# ldconfig

The above solved my problem :)
