Spawned from https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=202392&highlight=parted and personal experience

A fair number of us seem to be having the problem cited by rwallace in https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=202392&highlight=parted when trying to resize an hfs+ partition:
Code:
No Implementation: Support for checking hfs+ filesystem is not implemented yet

I have had this issue with the 2004.2 livecd, as did rwallace. Searching through the gentoo ppc forum (using the search term parted) others seem to have had the same problem with the 2004.0 livecd as well. We are far from the only ones to have this difficulty http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-parted/2004-04/msg00116.html And yet still others have had success with parted resizing partitions using these same CDs. I was wondering if anyone had anyone had any more information on what causes this problem to occur, and if it is related to hardware. So far every instance I've seen that includes specifics (including my own) has been dealing with a G4 Powerbook. Could this be part of the issue? Has anyone with similar hardware had success (not that it should make a difference since the HD is ATA whether it's a laptop or desktop with Apple)?
