Anyone have any suggestions? I compiled kernel 2.6.7-r9 along with xorg, however I'm getting that flickering screen whenever X loads. In my yaboot.conf
Code:

append="video=radeonfb"

is in there.

My 2.6.4 kernel works just fine. I remember having to patch it with the 7447a patch when I compiled that to get it going and figured the 2.6.7-r9 was already patched. Just for the heck, I ran the patch on the 2.6.7.-r9 kernel tree and still same thing.

Any suggestions?

What kind of iBook? Ihave a G3 800MHz, with a radeon 7500, and have never had to use that in my yaboot.conf (new to gentoo since 2.6.4 - working accelerated graphics too).
I used to compile AGP and Radeon as Modules, and load them at boot (NOT in the xorg.conf), but last time I compiled them in (2.6.8_r4), and they worked fine.

You can find my kernel's .config file, xorg stuff, etc here:

Hope that helps

Bump! I've tried various other kernel sources since then and I still have the same problem. Even just tried 2.6.9-gentoo-r1 and flickering still occurs.

Is anyone else still having this problem even with recent kernel sources?

If anyone has this working with a recent kernel source, could you post your .config?

If it's flickering in Xorg, make sure that you have:
Code:
Option "UseFBDev" "True"

in you xorg.conf. This should be placed in the device section.

Also, please try Xautoconfig, it's a handy little tool that should configure your ppc video for you. Try it out and see if that fixes the problem for you as well.

Good luck. :)
