I had much trouble installlung WLAN for my computer. I resolved my problems and want to show how I solved it.
I. Install the Package
If you use the stable Gentoo then emerge the package with following command
Code:
ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" FEATURES="-sandbox" emerge linux-wlan-ng

If you ust the unstable tree, you just need:
Code:
FEATURES="-sandbox" emerge linux-wlan-ng

If the prism2_usb-Module isn't build, try a USE="usb" in front of the command or just insert it into your /etc/make.conf.
II. Configure the Package
After that, go into your /etc/conf.d folder and edit net:

Code:
ifconfig_wlan0=(
            "192.168.0.2 broadcast 192.168.0.255 netmask 255.255.255.0"
)

routes_wlan0=(
            "default gw 192.168.0.1"
)

edit /etc/conf.d/wlan.conf and set your ssid
Code:

SSID_wlan0="linuxhome"
ENABLE_wlan0=y

after that copy your /etc/conf.d/wlancfg-*
Code:

cp wlancfg-DEFAULT wlancfg-linuxhome

Now you must publice your interface to the system for module-loading:
Code:

echo "alias wlan0 prism2_usb">>/etc/modules.d/aliases && modules-update

now you must copy the start-file
Code:

cd /etc/init.d
cp net.eth0 net.wlan0

Now we must make sure, that the wlan-script is started before net.wlan0.

After that, you have to edit the net.wlan0-file and change the use-line:
Code:

depend(){
  use ...
}

and insert wlan to the end of the use-line:
Code:

depend(){
  use ... wlan
}

at last just make an:
Code:
rc-update add wlan default && rc-update add net.wlan0 default

III. installing a new kernel

after you installed a new kernel just emerge the package like in I.

I hope this helps a little bit out.
