It doesn't seem possiblet to me, butIs it at all possiblt to shrink my ext3 partition w/o loosing data to make room for a new hfs+ partition (for osx), using parted or some such tool?

check out man resize2fs

(assuming you've done

emerge sys-fs/e2fsprogs

)

You then need to use fdisk to shrink the partition.

Make sure you keep the sizes consistent!

fdisk doesn't read open firmware partition tables, so i used parted. parted onyl let's you specify the size in megabytes for a new, resized partition, so i first figured out in megabytes how big i wanted the partition, then i multiplyed that number by 256 to get the number of 4k blocks that resize2fs takes in it's command-line option. viola! it worked, but you need much more than half the partition to resize the file system using resize2fs, around 70+ percent, i'd say.
