I got a strange issue setting up bind 9.2.x on a gentoo ppc box...

I've tried 9.2.2 and 9.2.3 and both have the same problem... after starting named on ps aux there are no named processes and the logs only show:

Code:

Sep  8 23:46:58 [named] starting BIND 9.2.2-P1 -u named -n 1
Sep  8 23:46:58 [named] using 1 CPU

i've strace-ed named and it seems to be working fine until it forks...

named-checkzone segfaults

i've tried using default config... configs known to be working on one of my other boxes but anything i do i can't make it work with this ppc build

anybody?

I'm having the same issue with bind failing to start, and not giving any error messages. Can anyone help here? I've tried all the config files that I can think of, used known good configs, and tried to do the strace, but couldnt make much sense of the output. Has anyone else solved this issue, or ran into it before?

I'm running a G3 400, Blue and White.

<EDIT>

I'm hoping this will fix it
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53025

Just setting my optimizations from -O3 to -O2.. will post back

<EDIT>

This fixed it. So anyone else having this problem, just set your flags from -O3 to -O2
