I'd like to boot a linux CD from within MOL. Since YDL (And/Or FC2ppc, Debian) can't see firewire disks from the install CD, I want to try export a partition to install to, and boot from the CD in MOL, and install that way, fix any details from within Gentoo, and try to make it boot. (I'll worry about the rest now, I'm mostly worried about booting a linux CD from within MOL right now.)

Is this possible? I've tried using:
Code:
#startmol --cdboot
and
#startmol --linux --cdboot
and even
#startmol -X --cdboot

I now have it set so that my molrc.linux exports /dev/sda9 as disk read-write, and /dev/cdrom as the boot device (read-only, of course). I get the following error:
Code:
    Disk /dev/cdrom                      <read-only>   622 MB BOOT

>> =============================================================
>> Mac-on-Linux OpenFirmware 0.9.12
>> prom_change_phandle returned an error
>> *** Boot failure! No secondary bootloader specified ***
cleaning up...
Terminating threads...
DONE

I think I need to edit the tail end of my molrc.linux. I've got it posted here below. Specificly, I can't find any reference to what BK stands for. My best guess is it stands for the blkdev's exported earlier...but I don't know.

/etc/mol/molrc.linux

Code:
# -*- perl -*- (emacs syntax coloring)
#
# Master config file for booting Linux within MOL
#

include                 ${etc}/molrc.video      # video
include                 ${etc}/molrc.input      # mouse & keyboard
include                 ${etc}/molrc.net        # networking
include                 ${etc}/molrc.sound      # sound

ram_size:               64

ifempty ${altconfig} {
        # booting without CD (session 3)
        blkdev:         /dev/cdrom -ro -boot    # diskimage
} else {
        # booting with CD (session 4)
        blkdev:         /dev/cdrom -ro -boot
        blkdev:         /dev/sda9 -rw           # diskimage
}

#symfile:       /usr/src/linux/System.map       # Symbols (for the debugger)

###################################################################
# Pseudo filesystem (yaboot/OF sees these files)
###################################################################
#
# MOL will boot 'yaboot' which in turn will load 'yaboot.conf'

pseudofile:     "yaboot"        /BK/boot/yaboot
pseudofile:     "yaboot.conf"   /etc/mol/yaboot.conf
pseudofile:     "vmlinux"       /BK/boot/vmlinux-2.4.22-2f
pseudofile:     "root.bin"      /BK/initrd

Thanks!

Michael
