Hello ppc-fans!

I own an iBook G4 800Mhz with 640MB RAM. Somehow I don't really like MacOS X so I got a few questions to Linux running on such a machine.
What of the Hardware is supported?
Sound?
AirportExtreme?
Network?
How fast is it? (Fast, slow, lightspeed, poor)

hth,

Hi,

The YellowDog website list some supported hardware:
http://www.yellowdoglinux.com/support/hardware/breakdown/index.php?hw_cat_id=3

I have a iBook G3 700MHz 256MB and it is fast enough to compile what I need. The largest apps I compiled are the KDE libs, base and qt. I setup distcc and cross-compilers to get some help from my Athlon. Not much faster than the iBook, but 2 computers better than one. :)

During use, speed depends on your wm. I use WindowMaker. Gentoo + WindowMaker faster than OS X.
