Hi

Just got me one of the new iBooks (12" 1Ghz) and have allocated some space as recommended in the PPC FAQ. However when I go to boot of the Live CD - 2004.1 - The screen flickers terribly. I can still see the picture, but I haven't dared to stay on the boot for too long, as I have no idea what it's doing to my TFT! Any pointers?

Try passing the no framebuffer agruement to the kernel upon booting... I can't remember the option off the top of my head but it's listed in the menu.

Hi

OK - Gimme a clue - Can't find the option for no framebuffer, and I tried "nofb" like the x86 livecd, but that didn't change anything.

Try booting with the video=ofonly agruement. For more information, look here. Sorry, I couldn't remember the exact syntax earlier.

Cheers.

Hi

Thanks, that did the trick - any idea what the problem was in the first place?

Actually I have no idea what the problem is... I suspect the default framebuffer driver doesn't play nice with whatever graphics card the iBook is rocking.

Hi

Well the GFX card is a 32Mb Radeon 9200 - nothing fancy, all iBooks have the same - Surely I can't be the only one who has seen this?

This is because the kernel on the livecd is older than 2.6.7. A patch was introduced in this version.
