Hi all,

I've got linux running successfully now, and was trying to put my iBook to sleep and wake it up. I hit the power button lightly, and off to snoozing it went.

Trouble is...I can't get it to 'wake up'. I've tried hitting buttons, mouse pad..etc. But, still have a blank screen...with a little cursor blinking in the top left corner.

Is there a special button combo I need to to hit to get it to wake up?

Hoping to not have to restart as I'm emerging some packages right now...

TIA,

cayenne

Hi,

It should wake up by pressing any key.

Which kernel do you have? Sleep stopped working in the late 2.4.x kernels, if you are using a 2.4.x kernel, I strongly suggest to upgrade to the 2.6.x series.

Also, in my case, it does not wake up successfully from sleep if Mac-on-Linux is running.

FWIW, mine (Tibook rev. III, Linux 2.6.7-gentoo-14) actually wakes up only when pressing the power button. What key does what could also be a matter of power management software (I am using pbbuttonsd version 0.6.1), but using the same key as the one one presses to put the machine to sleep does make kind of sense.

I also remember that a long time ago--when people did not know how to put the Rdeon M7 to sleep--my Tibook would go to sleep alright, would wake up alright, except the display. The Radeon would go into a fail safe more and just turn off the display as it turned out. No action I could think of would restart the card (except of course the blind or ssh'ed reboot). It could be (just maybe) that yours is one of the new iBooks with graphic cards that are not yet fully supported. Of course, I am just shooting in the dark here.
