Hi,

I cannot compile media-libs/flac-1.1.1. I have the older version so it is not a big deal, just prevents me to upgrade.

The errors seems to come from an ppc assembly file with comments preceded by ";". The assembler tries to interpret the comments as code:

Code:

/bin/sh ../../../libtool --tag=CC --mode=compile sh ../../../strip_non_asm_libtool_args.sh as -force_cpusubtype_ALL -o lpc_asm.lo lpc_asm.s
mkdir .libs
 sh ../../../strip_non_asm_libtool_args.sh as -force_cpusubtype_ALL lpc_asm.s  -fPIC -o .libs/lpc_asm.o
as -force_cpusubtype_ALL lpc_asm.s -o .libs/lpc_asm.o
lpc_asm.s: Assembler messages:
lpc_asm.s:1: Error: junk at end of line, first unrecognized character is `l'
lpc_asm.s:2: Error: junk at end of line, first unrecognized character is `C'
lpc_asm.s:4: Error: junk at end of line, first unrecognized character is `R'
lpc_asm.s:5: Error: junk at end of line, first unrecognized character is `m'
lpc_asm.s:6: Error: junk at end of line, first unrecognized character is `a'
lpc_asm.s:8: Error: junk at end of line, first unrecognized character is `-'
lpc_asm.s:9: Error: junk at end of line, first unrecognized character is `n'
lpc_asm.s:11: Error: junk at end of line, first unrecognized character is `-'
lpc_asm.s:12: Error: junk at end of line, first unrecognized character is `n'
lpc_asm.s:13: Error: junk at end of line, first unrecognized character is `d'
lpc_asm.s:15: Error: junk at end of line, first unrecognized character is `-'
lpc_asm.s:16: Error: junk at end of line, first unrecognized character is `c'
lpc_asm.s:17: Error: junk at end of line, first unrecognized character is `t'

By removing comments, it looks that it does not like addresses:

Code:

   mfspr r0,256
   addis r31,0,hi16(0xfffffc00)
   ori r31,r31,lo16(0xfffffc00)
   mtspr 256,r31

Conclusion: The assembler does not like that file.

My emerge info:

Code:

you're not alone, if that helps you... :-)

I just filed this big report:

Have fun*
