Recently I moved to alsa and kernel 2.6.7-gentoo-r14 on my G3 iBook, and in the process I somehow lost the system bell. In general, the sound works fine just no system bell. Of course, it's a very minor problem, but I'm curious what I did wrong. One of the threads on the multimedia board deals with a similar problem and the solution was to enable Device Drivers -> Input device support -> Misc -> PC Speaker Support, but I don't see the PC speak suppport option specified to enable it. Alsamixer shows PC Speaker as on, but the volume is zero and I can't adjust it. Any ideas?

Well, it looks like I am going to answer my own question. I was able to get the system bell back with this patch http://bulma.net/~kiko/iBook/patches/03-snd-powermac-beep/ to the snd-powermac module.
