Hola,

Something in my alsa setup is not letting dvd audio work right. Everything that comes through my dvds sounds really low and bass filled. I get the following error message from vlc:

libdvdread: Get key for /VIDEO_TS/VTS_08_1.VOB at 0x00308942
libdvdread: Elapsed time 0
libdvdread: Found 8 VTS's

Audio Stream Number[00000215] a52 decoder: A/52 channels:6 samplerate:48000 bitrate:448000
ALSA lib conf.c:2671:(snd_config_hooks_call) function snd_config_hook_load_for_all_cards returned error: Invalid argument
ALSA lib pcm.c:1851:(snd_pcm_open_conf) Invalid type for PCM iec958:AES0=0x2,AES1=0x82,AES2=0x0,AES3=0x2 definition (id: iec958, value: cards.pcm.iec958)

I can see that something from pcm in alsa is screwing up, but for the life of me I can't figure this out. I've tried using newer versions of alsa-libs, checking to see if I have the right alsa config (snd-powermac currently). Everything else audio based is working fine... (xmms, gaim, etc.) I can't get mplayer compiled but I know my last linux install a few months ago had this same problem, and I was using gxine and mplayer then. What could be causing this?

Thanks

Have you tried using OSS (through ALSA emulation)? That might fix the problem.
