I am having some trouble with my system, and I am not sure if it's hardware or software related.

I figured I'd run some stress tests. Most of them are x86 only.

The only one I found for PPC was at
http://freshmeat.net/projects/stress/

I havent run this one yet.

However, there is a stress test at
http://www.mersenne.org for linux x86

It you download the staticly linked linux x86 version, it seems to run fine under qemu

qemu-i386 mprime brings up the text inferface of the program.

However, when I run the stress test it returns an error almost immediately. (Same error every time). I mean that mprime seems to run properly but indiacates an error in my system.

So, is this a qemu issue? Or has it found a flaw in my box?

Any ideas?

I'll run the other actual ppc test tonight.

If the problems you're having are random segfaults or other similar errors, please make sure that you've disabled preempt as Kernel Preempt isn't stable on PPC systems. If you describe the problems you are having, I might be able to better diagnose the problem.

You could give memtester a try. It's in portage and works on ppc.
