I'm almost done making a reiser4 enabled version of the 2004.1 ppc minimal livecd. It should(hopefully) be working in a few minutes. If anybody would like to host it or knows of a freebie place to host it, reply here and I'll put it up for download.

WARNING: This is for the mildly insane only! Reiser4 is brand new and not very well tested on ppc. So don't blame me if you f00bar your Mac.

Okay, the only thing stopping it from working now is that I need UCL support in the kernel, but when I try to compile it, I get an error and the compilation stops. If someone can compile the gcloop patch and UCL into a reiser4 supported kernel, it will work then.

I don't know about compiling the kernel with those options, but I am interested in trying reiser4. :-) Please post if you get it working.

Thanks,
Michael

Okay, I've gotten the cd to boot, load the initrd, load the kernel, and load the live-environment. I put in the reiser4 stuff so it should work once this last problem is fixed... it loads the system to where you can't mount the hdd because the filesystem is read-only...
I'm working on that now... if anybody has any ideas on that, don't hesitate to speak.

Well, it didn't work out. I've tried simply testing reiser4 on a small partition on my iBook, and it just gives segmentation faults when I try to mount it. So, apparently reiser4 simply will not work with my iBook. So, sorry to anybody that wanted it! I did manage to get a kernel with reiser4 support to blend into a livecd for single processor G3 and G4's. it's a 2.6.9-mm1 kernel. if somebody would like the iso that I have.send email me at timothy.waters@gmail.com

I'm sorry but I don't think that ReiserFS will ever fully work on PPC. I've had problems with Reiser3 so what would make Reiser4 any different? Don't get me wrong. I miss having ReiserFS on my iBook. It was fast as hell. Just too much data loss and it's not stable for my needs.
