What sort of modem is it in a PowerMac G4 350MHz with AGP???

Is it a softmodem so I need a hsf driver (hcfusbmodem) to make it work or why didn't it show up then I run wvdialconfig???

I have compiled the pmac_zilog module into the kernel and I think that is the kernel 2.6 name for macserial. Is that right???

Yes, I think you need pmac_zilog. It should create some /dev/ttyS0. If it is the same kind of hardware modem that was in my Powerbook G3, that is... Your machine is old enough to have good chances that it is so. If it is, you'll have lines like
Code:
pmac_zilog: serial modem detected

in your dmesg.[/code]

Thank you!

"dmesg" shows
Code:
pmac_zilog: i2c-modem detected, id: 1

but I got no line like this
Code:
 tty00 at 0xd18c9020 (irq = 22) is a Z8530 ESCC (internal modem)
 tty01 at 0xd18d0000 (irq = 23) is a Z8530 ESCC

and wvdialconf or pppconfig can't find the modem either.

Then I use Suse 7.3 there was no problem to find the modem. So now I wonder that I may be missing or that can be wrong.

"setserial -g /dev/ttyS0" shows this
Code:
/dev/ttyS0, UART: unknown, Port: 0x03f8, IRQ: 4

Please help I'm going crasy...
