hi,

i'm thinking about how to get gentoo running on my 43p-170 (currently running aix), but i got no information on the net - this type of machine seems not to be supported officially - anyone got expiriences on this topic?
the big problem i got is to get the cd booting - no idea how to tell the machine that this cd is the right one.
typing "boot cdrom" on the ok-prompt ends in an new ok-prompt with no visible/noticeable result. i think i should not be a big thing to get gentoo running when the cd would boot - does anyone now howto do this?

Hendrik

you dont really need the cd to install gentoo. It can be done from another OS, but I have no idea how to do this .

I dont think there are any official instructions, If you have enough experience and time I'm sure you could figure it out with the regular instructions. They ought to be pretty much the same up until the point where you have to chroot, I'm not sure how you will get a working kernel without doing that, but maybe you can compile a linux kernel in AIX?
