Ok, I've just went through a long install of Gentoo (mainly w/ X.org) on my iMac(specs are in sig).

Anyway, I'm trying to get Xorg running.
I followed the docs, by running
Code:
X -configure

which didn't get it running, i got this error when running
Code:
X -config /root/xorg.conf.new

Quote:

Cannot read V_BIOS
NO DFP detected

I also did the xorgconfig which didn't do much, but spit another error.

I'm sure I have support in my kernel for ATI Rage 128 card.

I haven't figured out an way to post my /root/xorg.conf.new sadly.

Anyone have any ideas? It would also help if you could post your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file if you have a similar computer.

I remember I had similar problem.
What I remember too as a solution is the option UseFBDev.
I guess I lose smth on the path but Xorg runs here ;-)

Section "Device"
Identifier "Ati 128 rage re"
Driver "r128"
Option "UseFBDev" "true"
#VideoRam 32768
# Insert Clocks lines here if appropriate
EndSection

Hope this helps

Ok, thanks for the reply, I'll try that when i boot back up in Gentoo.

Also, I think this is the bigger problem, this was always at the bottom.

Ok, i tried what you suggested, by adding that option.
It started to startup, but then stopped at a blank screen. So i had to force restart.
Is there a module in the Kernel you have to compile this with?
