To work on LinuxPPC? I was wondering about this for some time now. Since OS X is BSD based. It shouldn't be that hard to reproduce the Flash player to work on PPC right? I was also told in a chat room that the guys at SF are working on a way to get Flash working on PPC but they are reverse engineering the Windows flash plugin. Wouldn't just make sence to work with the OSX player instead of messing around with an X86 version?

OS X uses the Mach-O executable format and Linux/BSD use the ELF. Right there, the executable/lib layout is different. I think plugins are usually compiled in shared libs that gets dynamically loaded when needed.

Also plugins usually interface with the navigator. Is there a Flash for Firefox/OS X or only for Safari and now dead IE?

But I'm far from being an expert in plugins so I don't really know the code involved. Its not because OS X and Linux are two Unixes and running on the same CPU that makes it really easier. Depends also what they want to do with reverse engineering. Reverse engineering usually means understanding how it works. Another strategy is to write glue code to have the OS X one to work in Linux but this can also be difficult.
