As sleep works now with BenH patch (thanks thanks thanks), the next thing I really need is to get VGA OUT works.
I've found some rumors that anyone made this working, but I cannot find any useful information (howto, patches, infos).

So, is it possible? How can I do that?

Someone (https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=244222 has getted the VGA-OUT works with the sleep patch.

He did that:

    patch the kernel with the sleep diff
    load the kernel-sleep
    put on an external monitor into VGA out cable
    sleep the notebook
    resume the monitor

Then he has a clone mode active.

I've noticed he don't use FBDev.
Is it possible to get this thing work? anyone can reproduce that?

Can you write to BenH to say this message, maybe it can be useful for a newer ibook-vgaout patch ?

Is this Radeon-based? If so, have you seen this thread (last post specifically)? Looks promising, I am gonna try it out myself sometime soon.

And if it's rage128 based (the 500 and 600MHz models), then it will not work (okay, there is m3mirror, but that tool does not take care for the correct vertical frequency).

I have an ati 9200:

Code:
0000:00:10.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M9+ 5C63 [Radeon Mobility 9200 (AGP)] (rev 01)

I've tried the patches in that thread, but thay didn't work: he has a DVI and a VGA OUT, with an ati 9600, wich I don't.

Can you try to use radeonfb instead of fbdev and try? I think this is the problem. Benh tell me that it works only with radeonfb.

Must I write append="video=radeonfb" on yaboot.conf or write something on xorg.conf file?

you have to select radeonfb in the kernel and write "radeon" instead of "fbdev" in xorg.conf

I have this yaboot.conf:

Code:
image=/vmlinux
        label=Linux
        root=/dev/hda4
        read-only
        append="video=radeonfb"

and this xorg.conf (wich I've modified from you):

Code:
Section "Module"

    Load        "dbe"     # Double buffer extension
    SubSection  "extmod"
      Option    "omit xfree86-dga"   # don't initialise the DGA
    EndSubSection
    Load        "type1"
    Load        "freetype"
    Load       "glx"
    Load       "dri"

EndSection

Section "Files"

    ModelName    "Monitor Model"
    HorizSync   31.5

EndSection

Section "Device"

    Option "LVDSProbePLL" "true"

EndSection

Section "Screen"
    Identifier  "Screen 1"

    InputDevice "Mouse1" "CorePointer"
    InputDevice "Keyboard1" "CoreKeyboard"

EndSection

Section "DRI"
        Mode 0666
EndSection

Without
Code:
 Option      "EnablePageFlip" "On"
I get page flickers. With AGPFastWrite on I get the ibook freeze when resuming from sleep.

With this configuration I can't get the vga-out work.

My kernel (2.6.9 with patch sleep) has those parts:

Code:
CONFIG_AGP=m
CONFIG_AGP_UNINORTH=m
CONFIG_DRM=y
# CONFIG_DRM_TDFX is not set
# CONFIG_DRM_R128 is not set
CONFIG_DRM_RADEON=m
# CONFIG_DRM_MGA is not set
# CONFIG_DRM_SIS is not set
# CONFIG_RAW_DRIVER is not set

Code:
#
# Macintosh device drivers
#
CONFIG_ADB=y
# CONFIG_ADB_CUDA is not set
CONFIG_ADB_PMU=y
CONFIG_PMAC_PBOOK=y
CONFIG_PMAC_APM_EMU=y
CONFIG_PMAC_BACKLIGHT=y
CONFIG_ADB_MACIO=y
CONFIG_INPUT_ADBHID=y
CONFIG_MAC_EMUMOUSEBTN=y
# CONFIG_THERM_WINDTUNNEL is not set
CONFIG_THERM_ADT746X=m

Why does not work?

Thanks in advance.

In DeviceDrivers-->GraphicsSupport-->

Put ONLY this:

Code:

<*> ATI Radeon display support
       [*]   DDC/I2C for ATI Radeon support

probably you don't need the second option.... (remeber that ibook is different from powerbook... maiby on ibook it don't work, but try....)
