I was wondering if there was any news yet on an updated kde/gnome livecd for the PPC architecture? I have access to an old clamshell ibook, but the hard drive has failed so a livecd allows me to keep using it.

On a similar subject, i've been thinking about the whole issue of generating livecds. Technically most of the compiling work could be cut out by using precompiled packages. The only thing that would really need to be built would be a more featureful kernel than the one which comes with the install livecds. Does this make sense or am I missing something?
