PowerBook G4 667Mhz (TiBook)
2004.3 (minimal) liveCD

When I try to do:

Code:
modprobe sungem

I get an error along the lines of:

Code:
[modprobe] fatal: module not found

I've installed Gentoo on a good number of i386 machines, and have never had any trouble inserting the ethernet module into the kernel. Is that sungem module not on the LiveCD?

Thanks in advance,

Mike.

Hi,

You can check to see if you see the modules files:
/lib/modules/${KERNEL_VERSION}/kernel/drivers/net

The other possibly might be that it is compiled in the kernel (as opposed to a module).

Do you see a file named: /proc/config.gz ?

If yes, do:
ibou:~> zgrep SUNGEM /proc/config.gz
CONFIG_SUNGEM=m
ibou:~>

To see if you see a "m", "y" or "n".

It should be "y" or "m" as sungem is quite popular but I don't have the LiveCD to test.
