Here's my config (for what it's worth):

http://mywebspace.wisc.edu/jrdittmann/web/files/config-2.6.9

I'm having some 'alsa issues', suddenly... but I'm working on it.

Hi,

emerge gentoo-dev-sources

this unpacks sources in /usr/src/linux-${KERNEL_VERSION}

copy the .config obtained to: /usr/src/linux-${KERNEL_VERSION}
(rename to .config if necessary).

make oldconfig

Then proceed as usual:
make menuconfig
(optional - if you want to customize)

make vmlinux modules modules_install
cp vmlinux /boot/vmlinux-${KERNEL_VERSION}

Configure boot loader then you are all set.

hi,

I'm using 2.6.9-gentoo-r1 and the pmac_defconfig and it seems to work well at the moment (still in the install process)
Code:
#make pmac_defconfig
#make menuconfig (i removed some stuff like pcmcia, ...)
#make && make modules_install

and it should work.

To download JD's config, open another terminal (not the chroot'ed one), use links to download the file (press D) then :
Code:
# cp <your file> /mnt/gentoo/usr/src/linux/.config

hope it will help u

ok... i'm also using 2.6.7-r14... i noticed that u all seem to be using 2.6.9... is there a way to upgrade in the middle of the install... i'm installing off the gentoo 2004.3 universal live cd... i don't mind starting over. it's easy to get back to this point but what should i do differently to get 2.6.9?

Code:
emerge sync && emerge gentoo-dev-sources
cd /usr/src/linux
ln -sf linux-2.6.9-gentoo-r1 linux

thenn compile it usual way
but u can use 2.6.7 and compile 2.6.9 later if u prefer

edit : if u have network, if not use 2.6.7, it should be ok.
