This is a problem I had after upgrading from evolution 1.4 to evolution 2.0. Calendar, pop3, tasks and other stuff worked very nicely. The only problem I had was that I couldn't send mail (which I could do in evolution 1.4).
The error message was
|MAIL FROM-kommandot misslyckades: Command rejected |
Meaning the Mail from command failed: command rejected. (The message partly is in Swedish)
After checking the traffic with tcpdump and with lots of help by a user in #gentoo chan (^Spinner). We found out that evolution was sending ehlo 192.168.0.1 (localhost). The mail server didn't like it and I couldn't send mail.
The fix was simple and logical. Evolution checks /etc/hosts.
therefore there should be something like this there.
|192.168.0.1 daemon daemon.fm |
192.168.0.1 being my computer I where evolution is
daemon is the computer name
fm is local domain
Now smtp works perfectly.
If anybody ever have same problem, hope this helps.
I want to thank #gentoo chan and of course ^Spinner for the help I got.
