HI! Im using a G3 ibook 12" 800mhz.

I just installed 2004.3. And now when i try to boot i get this error=

*Mounting proc at /proc... [ ok ]
*Mounting sysfs at /sys.... [ ok ]
can't create lock file /etc/mtab~849: Read-Only file system [ !! ]

*Mounting devpts at /dev/pts... [ ok ]
*Starting devfsd...
/sbin/rc: line 271: /sbin/devfsd: No such file or directory [ !! ]

*Activating (possible) swap.
*Remoting root filesystem read-only (if necessary) [ ok ]
*Checking root filesystem... [ok ]
ext2fs_check_if_mount: No such file or directory while determing whether /dev/hda4 is mounted.
fsck.ext3: No such file or directory while trying to open /dev/hda4
/dev/hda4:
The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2 filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2 filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:
e2fsck -b 8193 <device>

*Filesystem couldnt be fixed :( [ !! ]

Give root password for maintenance
(or type Control-D for normal startup):

If i take Control-D the comp restarts.. I had never this problem with 2004.1 hum what to do ? I got ext3 support in kernel..

Alot of people have this problem with 2004.3 stage-3 install.. Boot the livecd, chroot in your system and emerge devfsd.

Funny, I installed from stage 2 and came up with the same error (I installed from stage 3 yesterday and the same exact thing) the difference being pam compiled durring the stage 2 install. The addition of devfsd dosen't seem to of worked for the e2fsck problem though..
