I ran into several problems with vsftpd. I was able to start it but everytime I connected to it (no matter with which client), i got something like the following:
Code:
egore@egore913 ~ $ ftp localhost
Connected to localhost.
220 "Welcome to egore913 vsftpd"
Name (localhost:egore):
530 Please login with USER and PASS.
SSL not available
331 Please specify the password.
Password:
230 Login successful.
Remote system type is UNIX.
Using binary mode to transfer files.
ftp> ls
500 OOPS: cap_set_proc
ftp: bind: Address already in use

This was very disapointing and I googled around to a brasilian site (well, I don't speak protugese, but I got it managed somehow) and I found that:

Code:
modprobe capability

I did it, and it works! It was the ONLY site on google that had an answer to this question.

Here is the link to that website: http://distro.conectiva.com.br/pipermail/seguranca/2004-August/005066.html
