I was looking at a used "Clamshell"/"Toilet Lid" iBook, G3 something.
Would it be fast enough to run Gentoo on, with enough memory?
The size with a 12" screen makes it attractive, and the are quite cheap on ebay.
Is it supported by xorg? Do they take standard SO-DIMM?

Umm . . . the real question is "what's it for?"

I used to run Gentoo on a 233MHZ Powerbook with 128MB ram, and that was just fine for my needs at the time (KMail, Firefox, LyX/LaTeX, mplayer), although in the end I sold it because it was too heavy. Compiling apps was a bitch though, but I had a couple of faster machines with distcc, which helped. If I was doing it again I'd probably use a distro with binaries though.

Of course I was able to put a big hard drive in that machine, which you can't do with an iBook. But again, that depends on your needs.
