I installed gentoo per the installation instructions, but i am hung up on the yaboot and getting the system to boot gentoo. When i try to run the auto config for yaboot it says that i need to give it a chroot flag and then it cant find anything and it also says nvsetenv cant be found or unrecognized command. Then when i try to manually configure yaboot when i type mkofboot it says that nvsetenv cant be found and that the nvram wont be updated. The first time through i ignored that and it wouldnt boot gentoo. I am rather new to macs and trying to get their crappy osx off of it. any help would be appreciated.

i didnt kno if the issue was caused by me not properly installing gentoo, and really i would just like to know where i can obtain a nvsetenv file that would be compatible with my G5 that i can use to make yaboot configure itself...

Try emerging sys-apps/powerpc-utils, this is the package containing nvsetenv.

thanks, that worked! now my system is hanging when it starts to load linux and its still on the screen with the two penguins on the top of it. It hangs after it displays the information that it found my radeon card, and loaded drivers for it. After that it jus sits there. any ideals?
