Hi all,

I have a Dual 2.0 Ghz Rev A G5 and I am close to finishing the emerge system.

However, glib-1.2 fails to compile because it says

Code:

checking host system type......Invalid configuration

Does anyone know a work around for this or how to install it successfully?

Thanks a million in advance!

Here is the message:

Code:

checking host system type...Invalid configuration 'powerpc64-unknown-linux-gnu':  machine  'powerpc64-unknown' not recognized
checking build system type...Invalid configuration 'powerpc64-unknown-linux-gnu': machine 'powerpc64-unknown' not recognized

Itconfig: you must specify a host type if you use  '--no verify'
try 'Itconfig --help' for more information.
configure: error:  libtool configure failed

I actually fixed this problem using an alternative method.

I am truly grateful for this gentoo forums to answer questions of newbies like myself.

Cheers!

If you have a PPC64 machine, you must burn the Update 1 to the 2004.3 from http://dev.gentoo.org/~tgall and then download the image of portage from the same site, then it will compile.

Hope that helps!
