[Edited: I just found out that openfirmware images build a kernel image
with a ramdisk inside - x86 folk are not familiar with this.]

Coming from an x86 background I would like to know how the magic
line
boot cd boot/pegasos cdroot looptype=gcloop init=/linuxrc root=/dev/ram0

enables OF and the kernel to find it's initrd.img.gz. What exactly does
cdroot and looptype=gcloop do? Are they stock kernel?

As I understand it OF (unlike GRUB/LILO/SILO) deesn't "understand"
initrd=XXXX parameters.

BTW the 2004.3 handbook says that the kernel parameters are not needed
anymore - I found that without them the boot won't succeed.

It works now - too weird - maybe CDROM spin-up time or
something.
