Hi, i tried to emerge mplayer to my system, but it gives errors.

ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~ppc" emerge -p mplayer

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild N ] media-video/mplayer-1.0_pre6

and when I emerge mplayer-1.0_pre6 , after a couple of minutes it fails with the following messages.

imgresample.c:370: error: can't convert between vector values of different size

You're probably using gcc 3.4.3. Any software that includes altivec instructions has to be a little more exact in the way altivec instructions are defined, otherwise you'll get errors like this. If you switch back to the stable compiler (gcc 3.4.1), it should work fine. Nevertheless, please make a bug report for this.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply, but I am using gcc 3.4.1 compiller.

emerge -p gcc

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild R ] sys-devel/gcc-3.4.1-r3

I will make asap an bugreport. :wink:

Yeah, I'm having the same problem on my TiBook.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, as I (used to) use mplayer a lot on OS X, and would be dissapointed if it didn't work (natively) in linux!

I had the same problem, not only with the latest ebuild, but with all currently marked stable ones as well.

USE="-altivec" made mplayer compile, and it runs great even without optimalization (even better than on my xp2000)
