Hi,

Recently, I have executed emerge sync to obtain the latest package. I am planing to compile a stable (tested) version of hardened-dev-source for ppc. However, I got this when I execute emerge -av hardened-dev-sources

Code:
root # emerge -av hardened-dev-sources

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies
!!! All ebuilds that could satisfy "hardened-dev-sources" have been masked.
!!! One of the following masked packages is required to complete your request:
- sys-kernel/hardened-dev-sources-2.6.7-r17 (masked by: ~ppc keyword)
- sys-kernel/hardened-dev-sources-2.6.7-r16 (masked by: ~ppc keyword)
- sys-kernel/hardened-dev-sources-2.6.7-r18 (masked by: ~ppc keyword)
- sys-kernel/hardened-dev-sources-2.6.7-r15 (masked by: ~ppc keyword)

For more information, see MASKED PACKAGES section in the emerge man page or
section 2.2 "Software Availability" in the Gentoo Handbook.

Where is the stable hardened-dev-sources for ppc? Is it because people are not using and testing ppc anymore? I can't afford to use ~ppc kernel since this is a production server where every minute of downtime counts.

There currently isn't a "stable" hardened kernel for ppc. This just means that none of the hardened kernels in portage have been tested by the ppc devs. If you feel that one of these kernels can be marked stable, please make a bug in portage.

alright. However, what are the specifications for it to be "stable". There are limited hardware. I doubt anyone could test all possible hardware combination and all combination of the kernel configuration. If it works on my powerpc, it doesn't mean it is stable on other people's computer. Should I file a bug report and say it is stable if it doesn't crash on mine because I disable almost all of the other options (it is a server machine that doesn't care about multimedia and uses anicent hardware).
