Hello,

I have an apple emac g4 and have installed 2.6.9 on it. It is working fine (no X as yet), but networking is fine. However, whenever I boot it, during the booting process, it always gives an error :

cardmgr : ERROR. NO SOCKETS FOUND!!

Does that mean that the emac has no pcmcia devices in it?

i booted into os x and used the system profiler and the system profiler did not list any "pcmcia" anywhere.

I am using the built in ethernet to connect to the net (using sungem). The mouse and keyboard are usb. There is no airport card. I dont need the modem.
Does that mean that I can do without the pcmcia?

I dont know much about hardware, so I am at a loss here.

So I stopped pcmci from being started by doing
Code:
rc-update del pcmcia default

Next time I booted, this error (ofcourse) didnt show up. Everything seems to be ok so far but I have no way of knowing if I need pcmcia or if I can do without it?

It is very unlikely that you need pcmcia if you do not have a laptop.
