Ok I have an external firewire hard drive hooked up to my ibook. It's detected fine and I can access it as root no problem. It is formated as HFS+ as I have macos9 on the other internal drive partition.

However when I try to access it as a user I get the message access denied.

I checked my fstab which has the following entry:

/dev/sda /mnt/firewire hfsplus umask=000,rw,user,noauto 0 0

Any clues to what I am doing wrong here?

Shouldn't you append the partition number to /dev/sda (e.g. /dev/sda4)?
