Hello,

I am on 32 bit ppc architecture. Currently i have emerged mozilla and am using it, but it doesnt support java or flash. Searching on this forum, I saw that there is a problem about java plugins for ppc architecture. Some (old) posts suggested using Konqueror.

I would like to know if anybody has java and or flash working. If so, what browser do you use? What are the plugin package names?

Thanks a lot!

I have installed gcjwebplugin for Mozilla but most applets do not work (the applet regions show up as blank rectangles) so I essentially gave up. Konquerror has Java enabled with the proper keyword so in the rare occasions that I really need Java I fire up konquerror which handle Java applets pretty well.

For Flash I use swfdec (in the Portage tree) which works pretty well but does not have navigation capabilities. I am not aware of any way to enable Flash in konquerror. I prefer to avoid Flash-only sites but for the few cases in which I do need to navigate Flash sites I just fire up MOL and work with Firefox from within Mac OS X.

In a nutshell, Java works in konquerror, and Flash works partially in Mozilla. It is by no means the best world, but that's the best I can do in this respect.

Java worked under konquerror since I emerged it, with the following keywords:
Code:
emerge -pv kdebase

These are the packages that I would merge, in order:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild   R   ] kde-base/kdebase-3.3.2-r1  -arts +cups -debug +java -ldap +opengl +pam -samba +ssl +xinerama 19,526 kB

I assume that the `java' keyword does it. I did not need to do anything else.

I would hate it too, I am a big anti-fan of KDE. I actually use GNOME but that does not of course prevent one to run KDE applications.

Is there a way to get swfdec working in Konqueror with mozplugger, as it is done here?
So far, the only way for me to have flash in konqueror is the old gplflash, which even plays some stuff fine, without sound. It starts in konqueror without any plugin.
