Hi,
I have installed everything but i am unable to find a sound card listed. I have the ALSA snd-powermac modules loaded in the kernel. I've followed all the gentoo directions in the ALSA driver section and it hasn't yeilded anything at all
A simple 'lspci' doesn't pick up any cards and running a 'sndstat' gets no card configured. so....
1. Can anyone tell me what the sound chip is in a Powerbook G4 1.33Gz 12" laptop?
2. Is there something i've missed in compiling the kernel for sound configuration

I think it's because it can't find the actual sound card device
checking snd-card-0 comes back with 'no device'. How do i ensure that the device gets picked up?

for those of you who have a 12" 1.33Ghz powerbook. here is the answer. the default sound module for a 2.6 kernel (snd_powermac) doesn't do the trick. you HAVE to load the following modules

snd
dmasound_pmac
dmasound_core
soundcore

the dmasound_pmac is the module that gets sound into the system on the new laptops.

talk about a headache to solve.
