I'm curious if anyone has gotten the auto mount of hal and gnome-volume-manager to work correctly on a mac. Mine will create mount points and mount cds just like it is supposed to but it will not do the same for usb sticks.

I have made the mount point manually for now so all I have to do is plug the stick in and click on the icon in nautilus to mount it (then it shows up on the desktop as it should) but it would be so much better (and easier for the public using it) to just have it show up and mount by its self.

Anyone have any ideas? Is hal/udev/gnome-volume-manager possibly a bit different on mac? I can't figure it out. Confused

bump

Mine shows up in the Computer window of nautilus. I have a firewire harddrive with os x on it and hit shows up and has mounted before. hfsplus is compiled as a module and i can mount it manually but double clicking the volume gives me mount error "unable to mount the selected voluem" "mount: can't find /dev/sda3 in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab".

I get the same error with a compacflash card. It shows up imediately in the computer window but can't mount it. It should just show on the desktop.

I got this to work the first time I booted because gnome-volume-manager wasn't running. I ran it as root and they all poppped up. But now daemonized, it doesn't work?

Does pmount-hal work? Try that first; gnone-volume-manager calls that to mount things. Post errors if you see any. (Check logs as well)

I'm running GNOME 2.12 on my powerbook and it works just dandy.
