I running a G3 bondi blue iMac on which I succesfully installed Gentoo last year. Now I'm doing an install, and I can't get a kernel to boot. I'm using gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.10-r6 and when booting I get an "Input/Output error" message right after the message that says something like "loading the kernel". Previously I got messages saying it can't even read the kernel image, but since then I've repartitioned and rebuilt everything from scratch. Any pointers? Or could someone with a similar Mac post their kernel config?

I was looking for the kernel config file, usuall located at /usr/src/kernel-*/.config, not the XF86Config file (or xorg.conf). But anyway, I decided I'll try to create a bootable CD instead by altering the yaboot.conf on the gentoo live CD. I hope it works.

The kernel config that we'll be using for the next liveCD is located here:
http://dev.gentoo.org/~josejx/2005.config

Give that a try and let me know how it works for you.

(Sorry about the broken link :P)

trivial point, Jose but there is a following period/full stop at the end of your link that shouldn't be there

Thanks for the great work

Mike
