The animation during e17 startup is quite nice, but dramatically slows down startup. If you want to disable it, you can set the NOSPLASH environment variable to 1.
If you`re using csh, the command is
Code:
setenv NOSPLASH 1
and then start e17 as usual.
If you`re running bash run
Code:
NOSPLASH=1
export NOSPLASH
before running enlightenment.
You can also add it to your .bash_profile or .xsession if you`re using xdm (entrance for example).
And in zsh
Code:

export NOSPLASH='1' in .zshenv

Now you can enjoy the ultra fast loading e17.

[edit] there`s another option to remove the "welcome to e17" dialog if you don`t want to confirm it everytime e17 starts. just set the NOWELCOME variable to 0 exactly like above

Thanks alot, very interesting. It's amazing E17 can start this fast considering all the graphics etc. This needs to be added to the edocs site.

wooow!!! i can't look as fast as it starts up now :P

for you entrance, gdm or whatever users (you'd better use entrance :mrgreen: :) )

just put that in your /etc/X11/Session/e17 :
Code:
#!/bin/sh
NOSPLASH=1
export NOSPLASH
/usr/bin/enlightenment-0.17

;)

Another method to define the 2 env variables is to include it in the env.d directory so variables are defined during startup.

Code:
# /etc/env.d/02enlightenment:

NOSPLASH=1
NOWELCOME=1
