Hello,

I am experiencing some problems with time on my gentoo-OSX-albook 15". I posted in the hardware board, in this thread:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=284760

I am starting to wonder whether it could be more specifically ppc-related. Any idea ?
Basically, when I turn the computer on, the time is set to the time of the last session.

Could the system battery last only one year ? This looks weird to me. And some of the things I remarked would point me to another direction, but I do not know which.

Xavier

Hi

Having read your other thread the only thing I can think of is if you have possibly compiled enhanced rtc into the kernel?

/dev/rtc is needed, but NOT enhanced.rtc

Don't know really if this applies, but its the only thing I seen in relation to ppc kernels??

(Still if you've already covered this, my apologies!)

The solution came from the thread pointed out by gnomeza in the other thread. Thanks.

There should not be any problem with the kernel, since the problem appeared last week and my last kernel compilation dates back to months.

Hi Xavier!

I have the same problem as you. What have you done to correct the problem . I have read the thread from gnomeza, but i am not sure what i should do. I am pretty new to Linux. Thanks in advance for your help.

Greetings

Ah, that's good. My iBook is going to make the transition to Linux shortly, so I'm always keeping an eye out for potential problems. I've got too annoyed with the OS X GUI and I'm pining for Fluxbox which I use on my desktop.

Thanks for indicating what the solution was. (i.e. set the OS X clock to UTC). I still find it bizarre that OS X doesn't track the difference but instead thinks the clock has stopped.
