This will allow an easy method of contacting all moderators at one time.
  • Users:
    • If you spot what you believe to be a duplicate post, please post a link to it here. In addition, include a link to what is being duplicated.
    • If you find a post you think belongs in a different forum, let us know.
    • Avoid multiple reports of spam:
      • If a user's posts are all spam, report the user, not the posts.
      • Review this thread after submitting a report. Please delete your report if someone beat you to the punch.
    • Any other post that you think requires moderation (violations of Guidelines, broken BBcode, etc.).

  • Moderators:
    • Please delete posts after you've addressed them.
Thanks in advance.

Reason: I thought that was a genuine user, but now I think we have a really well disguised advertising profile here.
Also, the skill level presented on the forums seems to be kinda low compared to the one required for the linked website.

Reason: if i was myself having issue with sound, i would make a post asking to get a solve rather than querying someone else if he manage to have his sound working (as my sound issue won't get fix by his answer)
and with zillions threads about sound issues we have, i would had choose an active one rather than a 2016 post
number of post #1

Mods ... their "website", and domain, is also ficticious.

Might I be so bold as to suggest running dig against a domain name before describing a site as fictitious? Specifically dig any $domain.
I attempted to connect to the 'website', and did an 'nslookup -sil $domain', both returned negatives.

Indeed. But they appear to have posted a helpful reply, but I don't know the details of python well enough to know whether it is a good idea to do that. Still thinking... -- Akkara

I would myself say that the details coming from both python paths shown are good clues the answer is coming from a user that do use gentoo at least.
Just to point out that, as it makes it legitimate for me. (but random binary distro might also use two python interpreter and i'm not aware of that ; but i think that must be somehow gentoo and its derivative specific)

[Moderator response: Not banned yet. The profile URL is currently just $user.github.io, which is reasonable for a Github profile site if the user chose the same username on Github as on the forum. If there is specific spam content at that profile URL, please point it out. Otherwise, this one will remain on the watchlist for now. -Hu]

Topic: scp is ... outdated?
Post: post 8367810
Reason: suspect spam

[Moderator response: The post could do with better capitalization and grammar, but it is an on-topic criticism of the solution proposed above. An earlier, non-reported, post advocated sftp. The reported post notes that Dropbear, an alternate sshd implementation, does not support sftp. This is a good reason not to use Dropbear on systems that can afford the full sshd, so the post seems on-topic to me. It could still become spam, so it bears watching, but if it is a spam precursor, it's at least a better one than most. -Hu]

Reason: Question about moderator policy in Off the Wall

When I began to post in the forum I used to open some threads on my own. Then I was kindly asked to not do that but to continue existing threads. Now I have this comment from a user about my behavior:
Quote:
You need to worry about your posts and I will worry about mine. This isn't even your thread. Got it?!

If you want to be a thread NAZI, I suggest you apply to be a moderator. Otherwise, where it comes to my posts, kindly STFU.

Should I better open five new threads a day for my own?
What is to do to follow STFU regulations? What does it mean?

Off the Wall is, in my opinion, often quite rambling. Don't worry at all about commenting on Old School's posts; in fact, feel free. But suggesting that he do some particular thing is probably not going to get you very far in Off the Wall. Report if you feel necessary and we'll take a look. As you did. And I will. :)
