This will allow an easy method of contacting all moderators at one time.
  • Users:
    • If you spot what you believe to be a duplicate post, please post a link to it here. In addition, include a link to what is being duplicated.
    • If you find a post you think belongs in a different forum, let us know.
    • Avoid multiple reports of spam:
      • If a user's posts are all spam, report the user, not the posts.
      • Review this thread after submitting a report. Please delete your report if someone beat you to the punch.
    • Any other post that you think requires moderation (violations of Guidelines, broken BBcode, etc.).

  • Moderators:
    • Please delete posts after you've addressed them.
Thanks in advance.

Reason: I thought that was a genuine user, but now I think we have a really well disguised advertising profile here.
Also, the skill level presented on the forums seems to be kinda low compared to the one required for the linked website.

Topic: Query Method Recovery Linux from error 'fix the system files
Post: post 8269926
Reason: given openSUSE is not gentoo, and openSUSE 11.1 is from 2008, I suspect his is another cut&paste from some other support forum masking a spammers first post.

[Moderator response: Probably so. This appears to be a copy of https://superuser.com/questions/397927/how-to-recover-linux-from-repair-file-system-error. As such, binned and PM sent. -Hu
2018-10-15: Received a response asserting it is not spam. However, considering the finding documented here, I requested further clarification before restoring it. -Hu
2018-10-31: No further response from the user. This was likely a spammer who was slightly more persistent than most. -Hu]

Post: post 8270634
Reason: if i was myself having issue with sound, i would make a post asking to get a solve rather than querying someone else if he manage to have his sound working (as my sound issue won't get fix by his answer)
and with zillions threads about sound issues we have, i would had choose an active one rather than a 2016 post
number of post #1

Mods ... their "website", and domain, is also ficticious.

Might I be so bold as to suggest running dig against a domain name before describing a site as fictitious? Specifically dig any $domain.
I attempted to connect to the 'website', and did an 'nslookup -sil $domain', both returned negatives.

Reason: I'd like to raise a formal complaint about steveL's bullyish behaviour. He's just not able to let go. I can live with the moderators' decision to take no action on my original report, but steveL clearly seems to perceive the existence of this thread as a moderative pat on his back.

How he can manage to take "/me bangs heads together. -- NeddySeagoon" as encouragement is beyond me, not to mention pjp's comments, I guess it is my turn at (clue) bat. -- desultory

Topic: Problem with booting a new board and/or new drive
Post: post 8303226
Reason: The UEFI documentation is indeed lacking, and the systemd documentation even more so. Even so, a "guru" talking down to people trying to follow the official documentation is inexcusable.

Suggesting more effective means of finding fixes for problems hardly seems "inexcusable". Also, as with your previous account, I have removed the profile link to your business site. -- desultory

desultory, are you suggesting that using google instead of fixing the gentoo documentation so that simple things that come up on 99% of installs is the preferred method? While I do acknowledge that this is in line with what happened to the package archive back in the day, where there was a bug in the search feature, they just removed the search feature and posted an "all good now" post. And also in alignment with the bug that I asked about in dlm that was submitted in 2014, and marked confirmed in 2017, but has not made any progress since being submitted. None of these things are helping to make the distro better, which I am sure we are all in agreement on, is what our goal is.

I was, and am, suggesting that supplementing the handbook with additional resources is useful and not some "inexcusable" behavior. That suggestion is largely orthogonal to individual specific updates to the wiki at large or even the handbook in specific.

After reading your report, I too was curious. I didn't use the urban dictionary and found this:
Quote:
Sod (סוֹד‬) (pronounced with a long O as in 'lore') – "secret" ("mystery") or the esoteric/mystical meaning, as given through inspiration or revelation.
"as given through inspiration or revelation" would appear to be relevant, given the subject of a cure for cancer (however unlikely such a cure might seem).

It's OTW after all so I'll default to UD, but you may be right... the user had some weird Soros posts in the past, be that as it may...

I'm rarely able to decipher what he is usually trying to communicate. At best, I might get a "big picture" sense of it.

Topic: Soros arrested?
Post: post 8307732
Reason: This whole thread is so wrong. OTW is the sicko of Gentoo Forums.

Emphasis on https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-8307766.html#8307766

I tend to disagree about the forum as a whole, but that topic certainly makes an argument for it. -- desultory
