This will allow an easy method of contacting all moderators at one time.
  • Users:
    • If you spot what you believe to be a duplicate post, please post a link to it here. In addition, include a link to what is being duplicated.
    • If you find a post you think belongs in a different forum, let us know.
    • Avoid multiple reports of spam:
      • If a user's posts are all spam, report the user, not the posts.
      • Review this thread after submitting a report. Please delete your report if someone beat you to the punch.
    • Any other post that you think requires moderation (violations of Guidelines, broken BBcode, etc.).

  • Moderators:
    • Please delete posts after you've addressed them.
Thanks in advance.

Reason: This member is giving erroneous advice and only adding to confusion. We all make mistakes, it is human, but talking nonsense repeatedly should not be allowed.

[Moderator response: He has some other posts that look a bit less suspicious, and appears to be just a new user who could use a bit more practice with forum etiquette. Even so, he will be watched. -Hu]

Reason: I thought that was a genuine user, but now I think we have a really well disguised advertising profile here.
Also, the skill level presented on the forums seems to be kinda low compared to the one required for the linked website.

Reason: Two years ago, notageek offended me. He said, to wit, "Stop talking out your ass, you're stinking up the place." You can see that I intended to report it at the time (I said "Reported", but apparently did not do so. I'm reporting it now, so that justice may be done, and in case he someday gets nominated to be a Supreme Court Justice or something.

Given that he would be an immigrant, his past offenses would likely be ignored; even his vehicular assault on that poor cow. -- desultory
[Regarding "Reported": when the report post is deleted, the report marker resets. So you may have reported it then, but if your report was expired in due course, then the post would again be marked as unreported. Regardless, if your goal is to use it against him in the future, you need to sit quietly on it now and tell no one, so that everyone is caught by surprise when you spring it on him at a key moment. -Hu]

Bones McCracker ... no need to take offence, that "talking out your ass" is clearly early 80's collage patois for "praying to Jesus for good test scores", and anyone having talked out their ass can smell that a mile off. Besides, notageek is too over-qualified for supreme court justice, for instance, I'm almost certain he'd know that when a witness says "they have no recollection of said place, event, or having been present" this does not substantiate another's testimony, you know, basic legal shit judges would do well to know. The same can't be said for supreme court justice nominee Chuck Norris ... and so the bar is set so low I doubt even some skinny turd-worlder would be able to squeeze under.

best ... khay

Topic: Query Method Recovery Linux from error 'fix the system files
Post: post 8269926
Reason: given openSUSE is not gentoo, and openSUSE 11.1 is from 2008, I suspect his is another cut&paste from some other support forum masking a spammers first post.

[Moderator response: Probably so. This appears to be a copy of https://superuser.com/questions/397927/how-to-recover-linux-from-repair-file-system-error. As such, binned and PM sent. -Hu
2018-10-15: Received a response asserting it is not spam. However, considering the finding documented here, I requested further clarification before restoring it. -Hu
2018-10-31: No further response from the user. This was likely a spammer who was slightly more persistent than most. -Hu]

Reason: if i was myself having issue with sound, i would make a post asking to get a solve rather than querying someone else if he manage to have his sound working (as my sound issue won't get fix by his answer)
and with zillions threads about sound issues we have, i would had choose an active one rather than a 2016 post
number of post #1

Mods ... their "website", and domain, is also ficticious.

Might I be so bold as to suggest running dig against a domain name before describing a site as fictitious? Specifically dig any $domain.
I attempted to connect to the 'website', and did an 'nslookup -sil $domain', both returned negatives.

Reason: Recommend keeping a close eye on this user, as they've been perpetrating a vandalism spree on the wiki over the last 2 months and are becoming extremely abusive toward everyone there (and on off-gentoo sites). If previous users with similar attitude are any indication, it's probably going to escalate and spill over to here before the damage is brought under control.

[This has started to spill into Bugzilla as well. See Gentoo wiki is garbage. by KostWarCZE.

Is it the 'Kreyren' person that is all over the wiki?

Topic: Krey vs Lutris
Reason: Confrontational.

It seems that the only reason for this thread is to start some type of back and forth argument.
It has nothing to do with being helpful nor gentoo per se.

If not deleted it should be moved to something like OTW.

ETA: It seems that others are just avoiding him, but I still think moving it would be good, OTW or maybe chat

[Moderator response: Moved to Gentoo Chat for now, although OTW might well become a better choice with how heated this is likely to get. -Hu]

Reason: Why do we have a thread that is basically just hate? :?

[Could you cite specific problem posts? You reported the opening post, but that is quite old. The thread contains coarse language and may not be suitable for all audiences, but that is fairly typical of Off The Wall. -Hu]

Well, the title of the opening post is a derogatory term.

The content of the thread is generally attacking minorities, feminists, immigrants, left-wing political persuasions, LGBTQ+, gender identities, etc, etc

As we've seen in recent days similar bile has escalated from 'harmless' words on the internet into actions (mail bombs, shootings)

Not something I would have thought Gentoo would want to be associated with?

[Moderator response: Interesting. I knew "special" was sometimes used as a derogatory reference to people with developmental problems. I was not aware snowflake had become a triggering term as well. I guess I should feel sorry for the people who live in cold climates.

As for "content ... generally": again, please cite specific problem posts. I scanned through parts of the thread, and the thing that struck me most was that there were already moderators (The Doctor) and administrators (pjp, desultory) active in the thread. If they are participating in a personal capacity, and not moderating it, then any problem posts are likely too subtle for me to spot on a quick read. Call them out for review and I'll look at them.

As for the violence: Of course Gentoo should not host posts advocating violence. If there are specific posts advocating violence, please report them. -Hu]

Neither the contents of nor participants in the thread are "attacking" anyone, they are, however, deriding absurd actions born of practiced oversensitivity. -- desultory

I'm personally concerned about unrelated events being linked to an unrelated discussion topic. Mentally disturbed people committing acts of violence in the name of one point of view or against another point of view have absolutely nothing to do with discourse. When the ability to engage in discourse is limited even with the best of intentions, our ability to learn is in jeopardy. We cannot learn if we refuse to have discussions, and especially if we refuse to have uncomfortable discussions.

For perhaps the best example of this I have ever seen, I encourage you to watch the video linked by desultory in this post (the link is via the word "swag"). --pjp

Reason: I'd like to raise a formal complaint about steveL's bullyish behaviour. He's just not able to let go. I can live with the moderators' decision to take no action on my original report, but steveL clearly seems to perceive the existence of this thread as a moderative pat on his back.

How he can manage to take "/me bangs heads together. -- NeddySeagoon" as encouragement is beyond me, not to mention pjp's comments, I guess it is my turn at (clue) bat. -- desultory
