I'm doing an installation of gentoo on my 12" al powerbook. I rebooted and was able to boot my kernel but my keyboard was not recognized! I'm using gentoo-dev-sources (2.6.10-gentoo-r6) I tried to follow the manual configuration in the handbook but some of the options in menuconfig are not the same. I assume that some module or other must not be compiled and/or loaded.

now I'm trying genkernel but it's complaining that .config is not found. I really would like to start with a kernel like the one on the cd and then tune it from there. Can I copy the .config from the CD or maybe the whole kernel from there? help! I'd really like to get this thing running on gentoo tonight!

I remember on my iBook, you needed to have ADB support and ADB Keyboard support compiled directly into the kernel.

Device Drivers->Macintosh Device Drivers

Edit: Specifically, enable:
-Apple Desktop Bus (ADB) Support
-Support for ADB input devices (keyboard, mice, ...)
-Support for mouse button 2+3 emulation

under Mac Device Drivers.

I finally was able to compile a working kernel last night. I found a config file on the live CD that worked. There are some corrections that I think should be made to the installation handbook. I think it states that genkernel can be used on all platforms but I could not get it to compile a kernel last night. Could be I was using it wrong or it could be broken on ppc. The instructions for manually configuring a kernel didn't match the sources I had either. Probably the instructions are for an earlier version of the kernel.
