hello,

Code:
tar ./proc/.keep: Cannot open: no such file or directory
[...]
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

I get such an error untaring stage1 tar. Why? Before that did

Code:
mkdir /mnt/gentoo/proc
mount -t proc none /mnt/gentoo/proc

if that has anything to do with that problem

looking forward to hearing from you

marek

No, it has nothing to do with it - you are trying to untar the stage in the wrong place.
If you did not cd to /mnt/gentoo before executing the tar command you have to specify it on the command line with -C /mnt/gentoo.
It's in the Handbook ;-)

Code:
pwd
/mnt/gentoo

So it seems I am in the correct directory?

stage1-x86-2004.3.tar.bz2: OK
# tar -xvjpf stage1-x86-2004.3.tar.bz2
