Hi, i would like to know which kernel will be used to package 2005.0 LiveCD, since so far
(as it has been mentioned MANY times in this forum) 2004.3 is not bootable, neither PPC32
nor PPC64 ....

For your information, Yellodwog Linux supports iMac G5, it would be enough to check what kernel they are using,
anyway i'm pretty sure that these patches:
http://perso.magic.fr/l_indien/linux-ImacG5/
should get it working.... they have been posted in gentoo bugzilla in the first place, but everyone seemed to ignore them,
now they are broadly known to get iMac G5 boot linux.... if only we had tried to include those patches first.... that would have been so much better...

Thanks

DooM

Well, there's the stuff at http://dev.gentoo.org/~tgall/ but it doesn't seem to work on my computer (20 inch iMac G5). Booting up with it in my drive pressing C just ejects the CD and MacOS X boots. Running OpenFirmware and typing the command given in the handbook gives me a whiteish screen with a grey No logo after showing some computerstuff that I don't have time to read. Running OpenFirmware and typing 'boot cd,yaboot' gave me a whitish screen with a square of random lines in the middle with the Apple and No logos go, like a corrupted graphic. If I weren't already balding, this'd be enough to make me start, I'm sure!

Just to be able to boot GNU/Linux, Oh the mirth it would birth, the joy it would generate!

iMac G5 support will get merged into official tree after 2.6.11 has been released.. So we have to wait for 2.6.12 or patch the kernel. Wait for tgall, he *will* find a solution for this. (I hope so...)
