Hi Folks,

I'm having trouble getting X to run on a clamshell iBook 366. All indications are that the computer has the Rage 128 Mobility chipset. When I do a startx, I get...

Code:
Using vt 7
(EE) No devices detected.

Fatal server error:
no screens found

...which I assume means a problem with my 2.6 kernel config. I've tried both building atyfb support into the kernel, and also compiling atyfb as a module. Neither seems to do the trick. When I try to load the atyfb module, I get:

Code:
atyfb: Unknown symbol mac_map_monitor_sense
atyfb: Unknown symbol mac_find_mode
atyfb: Unknown symbol mac_vmod_to_var

I've looked around for kernel patches, but no luck. Does anyone out there have video working on a 366 clamshell, or is it know not to work with the 2.6. kernel? (I don't care about dri...I'm just trying to get a basic XFce4 desktop happening.) Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry for the false alarm. Turns out that it was a problem with my xorg.conf.

Here's a working config for iBook 366:

Code:

# XF86Config-4 (XFree86 server configuration file) generated by dexconf, the
# Debian X Configuration tool, using values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the XF86Config-4 manual page.
# (Type "man XF86Config-4" at the shell prompt.)
#
# If you want your changes to this file preserved by dexconf, only make changes
# before the "### BEGIN DEBCONF SECTION" line above, and/or after the
# "### END DEBCONF SECTION" line below.
#
# To change things within the debconf section, run the command:
#   dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86
# as root.  Also see "How do I add custom sections to a dexconf-generated
# XF86Config or XF86Config-4 file?" in /usr/share/doc/xfree86-common/FAQ.gz.
